John Adams is at it again with his latest single. For Me, For Her, For You is the fourth release from his upcoming album of original, acoustic, folk-pop songs. If you recognise his name, it’s probably because you watch X-factor UK (or are a regular reader of my blog). Taking a great leap of faith, Adams quit his job as a maths teacher to pursue his career in music which has been an ongoing success. He has supported Take That, Lemar and Katherine Jenkins as well as nurturing a fan base of 100,000 monthly listeners.
This single contained sonically pleasing vocal harmonies and a beautiful melody in Adams’ falsetto. As always, Adams constructed his melodic phrases expertly over a texturally rich background. However, I felt that the music needed more percussion. Although some rhythm was evident in the guitar, the chorus where the melody is especially syncopated and staccato needed to have a drum kit to build up the song. Regardless, the combination of guitar, strings and synth made for a great listen.
Overall, I found this track to be a good choice as a single. I give it 8/10.
