Allegiance by VISTA

Alternative rock duo VISTA amalgamate years of experience in their music. Hope Vista, the lead vocalist, and guitarist Greg Almeida name their style anthemic rock. This combines the popular alternative rock genre with an arena performance style. Their latest single Allegiance was released in May, garnering positive press and many plays on idobi. The duo plan on touring and releasing a new EP soon, so check out the links below for more details!

This single definitely lives up to the sub-genre VISTA attribute their sound to. There were hard-core guitar chords that powered through the choruses, as well as zealous synth strings that soared over the melody line. I really enjoyed the guitar solo/ad-lib over the last chorus, but would have liked to hear it earlier in the track. I thought Vista’s vocal tone was low and dramatic, with her pronunciation of certain words and phrases adding to the theatrics of her performance. Allegiance has a catchy chorus with some great lyrical lines here and there. My only advice would be to up the anti by making the music just as dramatic as the vocals. Although there is a sense of spectacle about the musical style, I think a more intense build up to the last minute of the track would have made the song shine.

Overall, I enjoyed VISTA’s musical style and the way they constructed the choruses. I give the track 8.5/10.
